Architectural Planner  |  January 2012 - November 2015

Involved in the planning and programming of large and small-scale capital projects that support the university’s comprehensive physical master plan. This includes preparing scope documents for large and small-scale rehab projects, auditing space use within campus buildings and developing corresponding space utilization studies, developing master plan and planning studies for various academic and administrative decanal units, preliminary programming and space concepts for both new buildings and major renovations, development of the five year capital plan proposal, preliminary test fits and concept drawings/diagrams, graphics and presentations for various campus initiatives, assisting with departmental moves, and accessing information and producing resultant graphic reports using the university’s physical space inventory database.  Major Projects include:

  • Athletics Master Plan: Spearheaded master planning efforts, working directly with the UB Athletics Department to develop site plans and corresponding renderings of several athletic facilities, both new construction and major renovations;

  • Infrastructure Task Force: Working with Senior Leadership, the Infrastructure Task Force investigated the policies and processes that affect UB’s campus environment, including improved utilization and space standards, development of design standards for UB’s three campuses, and a revival of UB’s planning board;

  • Five-Year Capital Plan: Utilizing the University’s Facilities Master Plan and UB’s Comprehensive Plan, worked collaboratively with senior leadership to develop the five-year capital plan which includes re-branding UB’s three campuses and works to deal with the effects on both North and South Campuses as the School of Medicine moves to UB’s downtown Campus;

  • Teaching Assistant and Adjunct Professor Common Spaces: Adapting the ‘Common Space’ approach to provide office space for Teaching Assistants and Adjunct Professors allow for a new space standards to be applied to these groups which will allow for less physical space to be assigned to them and will thus create available offices for both immediate and future space needs for many undersized academic units;

  • South Campus Revitalization Study: Investigating multiple scenarios for revitalizing UB’s historic South Campus once the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences vacates the campus for a new structure on UB’s Downtown Campus. The goal of this study is to investigate ways to repopulate South Campus, demolish unsightly temporary structures, and accommodate service and classroom needs for administrative and academic units that will be housed on South Campus.
